YouTuber Mithilesh's wife faces harassment during Udaipur visit

During their trip to Udaipur with their two-year-old son, popular YouTuber "Mithilesh Backpacker" disclosed that his Russian wife was the subject of offensive remarks. While his wife was at the City Palace in Udaipur, Mithilesh recorded her being harassed with remarks like "6,000 INR?" Even though a remark like "6,000" can sound harmless to the average person, comedians like Harsh Gujral have popularized sexually suggestive jokes that have given the number a negative connotation when referring to Russian women.

“6,000 INR bola tu?”

A voice off-camera said, "6,000 INR," as YouTuber Mithilesh was filming a video of his wife, Lisa. Mithilesh stopped filming his wife right away to reveal who had said it. Even when the harasser continued to deny that his comment was meant for the Russian woman, he threatened to call the police. "Kisko bolta 6,000 INR, merko samajhta nahi kya? The YouTuber questioned, "Do you not understand to whom you are saying 6,000?" "Kikso bola? What do you think about Meri's Russian wife? (You will say these absurd things because my wife is Russian.)" he said.

Mithilesh clarified in his YouTube video that the footage was shot while he and his family were touring Udaipur's City Palace. He claimed that even before to the "6000" statement that set him off, the men had been following them around and making offensive comments. When palace guards arrived on the scene, he said, they encouraged him not to call the police.

The YouTuber criticized people's attitudes and the safety conditions for women in India. "I was furious. My wife was with me. How are individuals able to act like this? For me, it was really embarrassing and startling. My spouse traveled to India. I wanted to spread the word about India's beauty and safety to encourage travel there. And what do you do when something like this occurs?
