Armless archer Sheetal Devi received praise from industrialist Anand Mahindra for her outstanding performance at the Paralympics in Paris.

Industrialist Anand Mahindra had asked armless archer Sheetal Devi to take an automobile from their range in 2023, motivated by her unwavering spirit. Devi, however, has stated that when she becomes 18 in 2025, she will "take up the offer." Mahindra praised Devi for her outstanding performance in the August 31 Paralympics in Paris and expressed his eagerness to keep the "promise" he made to her.

Devi was defeated by Mariana Zuniga of Chile in a closely contested match in the pre-quarterfinal, narrowly missing out on a chance to create a new world record in the ranking round. But her bullseye shot garnered a lot of praise because a video of it went viral as well.

Mahindra posted the video in a thank-you note to Devi, stating that medals are not a measure of extraordinary bravery, dedication, or a never-say-die attitude. You are an inspiration to the entire nation and the world, #SheetalDevi.

In a post on X last year, the chairman of Mahindra Group had declared his intention to give Devi the customized car.

Despite having undeveloped limbs due to a rare congenital disease called phocomelia, Sheetal Devi has surmounted great obstacles to become the first and only female archer to compete actively without using her arms.

Sheetal Devi has a unique way of shooting arrows because she manages the bow with her right leg and shoulder. She begins by placing the bow down on the ground and using her right foot to draw back the arrow. After the arrow is in position, she draws the bow close to her chest and secures it with her leg. She uses a release device over her right shoulder that she manipulates with her leg to release the arrow, and she wears a strap around her upper body.
