Mumbai City FC, the winner of the Indian Super League (ISL) Championship, has officially signed Jon Toral, a former product of the Arsenal and Barcelona youth academies, to a two-year contract. The club announced the signing on Tuesday.

 

Jon Toral's football journey began with the local club UE Barri Santes Creus in Spain, where his talent quickly caught the attention of FC Barcelona. This led to his recruitment into their prestigious youth academy, La Masia.

 

After spending eight years developing his skills, Toral transitioned to London to join Arsenal FC, where he showcased his abilities as a versatile midfielder. During his time with the Gunners, he participated in the Premier Reserve League, NextGen Series, and the UEFA Youth League.

 

 

Toral expressed his admiration for Mumbai City's impressive track record of winning trophies and being one of the most successful clubs in the country. He emphasized the club's unwavering commitment to their philosophy and values, which played a significant role in his decision to join them.

 

Toral's extensive professional career has taken him to various clubs such as Brentford, Birmingham City, Hull City in England, Granada CF in Spain, Rangers FC in Scotland, and most recently OFI Crete FC in Greece. His versatility and adaptability have been consistently demonstrated, highlighting his technical skills and football intelligence.

 

Toral has participated in 275 matches in different leagues, scoring 46 goals and providing 35 assists. He is recognized for his elegant ball control and innovative style of play.

 

Mumbai City FC's coach Petr Kratky expressed his delight in welcoming Jon to the team, emphasizing his extensive experience and technical skills that will strengthen the midfield in the upcoming season. He also praised Jon as a great player and leader, anticipating his positive impact on the squad's performance and objectives for the next season.
